Hello hello and welcome to Fall.
Here in Los Angeles, the next few months are typically hot and not very autumnal but I like to think it’s still important to recognize the shift in seasons.
The Autumnal Equinox occurred on September 22nd when we also moved into Libra season. The year’s final Mercury Retrograde begins on the 27th, joining Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto in a reverse dance.
Some of our past journal prompts have addressed Mercury Retrograde, which included this disclaimer: I am not particularly astrology-centric and this newsletter will not touch upon astrology very often. That being said, I have a soft spot in my heart for Mercury Retrograde and I love a good opportunity to reflect on a cycle.
From what I’ve read on this retrograde, it will be a powerful time to address whatever chaos or blockages are still hanging around from the past year. When Mercury stations direct on October 18th, you’ll have some back up in the skies with Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto moving forward as well.
We’ll all experience this time differently, but my hope is that we can do so with clarity of intention. Rather than look at this as a time to survive, we can view it as an opportunity to act mindfully and carry ourselves with humor.
First off, to close the summer:
What stood out to you this Summer? Any patterns or new experiences you’d like to recognize?
Did you find the memorable moments to be more from surprises or aspects that you planned out?
Find at least one thing that you feel proud of, whether that’s a sustained practice, completing a project or intentionally doing nothing at all.
Is there anything you can release as we move into Fall?
In preparation for Mercury Retrograde:
In what areas can you practice more self-compassion when things get tricky?
Is there something simple that you can have on deck as a form of comfort when you need it?
Are there any upcoming deadlines or travels that fall within the retrograde?
How can you address them with patience instead of force?
Whatever comes up, only serves to make you stronger. Know that this time is temporary and ultimately is meant to create more space by giving you the opportunity to clear what is no longer necessary.
Sending you all the very best!
xx,
James
